We have used Inman in the past but will not be using them in the future because of our most recent experience. We contracted with Inman for a removal, embalming and ship out to our location. The pre-embalming assessment on the embalming report said that the body was in "fair" condition. When we received the body, it was in a state of decomposition.

When we brought in an embalmer for an outside assessment it appeared that the embalmer who did the original embalming did not follow standard protocol (autopsied body) by injecting from within the cavity and instead only raised both the femoral and axillary arteries to embalm. The cavity was a total mess with little preservation (it was green). The face, arms and torso were all in a state of decomposition; the only preserved area were the legs.

When I contacted Inman and spoke with a team leader, Monica Ward, she looked into our problem and later wanted to dispute the pre-embalming assessment of "fair" by saying they would not except a one word assessment again in the future. She originally called back and said we could take $200 off the bill which was $1,933.13 ($717.13 was airfare). I found this hard to believe in that we weren't able to have a viewing due to the body we received from Inman.

I let Monica know that I was okay paying something as they made the removal, processed the paperwork and provided an air tray. I asked for $500 off the $995 fee and to not be charged for the Autopsy Repair fee of $133. In the end they told me I could take $400 off the total bill, the contracted firm was willing to discount their charge to Inman by $200 and Inman would match $200. I thought I was being more than fair by asking for $633 off (total bill of $1,933.13) and now they can be assured we will never use them again.

Inman Shipping Worldwide is our choice for all of our shipping needs. They have been for years, and will continue to be in the future. We tell our families to make one phone call to us and we will handle the rest for them. In turn, on a ship-in or ship-out call, one call to Inman, and they take care of everything for us. Our families find comfort when we tell them that their deceased loved one's transportation needs are being handled by the best in the business. Great job Team Inman! Jeffry Opioids were involved in 72000 deaths in 2017 according to the Center For Disease Control. Neither ISW or anyone associated wanted to intentionally upset Jeff Veldoff we sincerely apologize. I have known Jeff for many years he was our funeral home sales rep from Homesteaders Life Insurance Company. He served us well and he did well for himself and for HSLIC.

The loss of a young person is a tragedy and we give our condolences to the family. The embalmer's goal is to serve in a way to facilitate the family to having a meaningful ceremony. About opioids and embalming: I recently interviewed 2 industry experts and provide the following quotes: Expert 1 "Long term use of opioids or other drugs of abuse including alcohol abuse can cause systematic damage to the internal organs of the body which can complicate the efficacy of the embalming chemicals".

Expert 2 "Opioids, as the body metabolizes, create nitrogenous waste, which are stored in the cells. Nitrogen prohibits formaldehyde from cross-linking molecules". In the transportation of a deceased loved one home for ceremony. time is of the essence. Many times the cause of death is not known prior to embalming.and this was the case with this young man. ISW will continue to inform and innovate to reduce situations like this and once again we apologize.

Will not deal with firm any longer. We can't get paid for services rendered. They promised shipping trays and yet we still have to provide our own. I requested to speak directly to accounts payable and the policy is you can't. What a joke.
