Young Friedrich H. Bertling at the age of 23 had the aim of providing transportation links throughout Scandinavia and the Baltic States. Leveraging his connections with decision-makers and local authorities, Friedrich H. Bertling - by that time Senator of Luebeck and Consul of the Kingdom of Norway - stressed the need for linking German industrial centers with Scandinavia and the Baltic states.
Bertling's ship owning, and chartering expertise goes back to the company's foundation in 1865. Whether it's raw materials, project cargo, or agricultural products - Bertling offers tailormade shipping solutions to its worldwide client base. Moreover, Bertling owns a fleet of modern ocean-going vessels that operate to and from worldwide locations.
In 2003, we decided to spin out our quickly growing IT department and incorporate it into an independent software engineering firm - BESITEC (short for Bertling EDI Service & IT GmbH). While their initial focus was to further improve our transport management system, BESITEC has now grown into an independent technology company, which offers individual software solutions, innovative EDI and programming interfaces as well as system planning and administration services.
