Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness, Value Stay away! They gave us a bill which we signed before moving, after the move was done they sent us a bill that we owe 9,000$ for stuff we never approved. After we talked to someone, they sent a new bill with different charges. It's been 6 months of this ongoing problem and they won't solve it. Time to get our lawyer involved!

I had a terrible experience, Federal Warehouse/Allied International managed my move from Peoria (IL) to Italy for a job relocation. The moving crew that was sent to my apartment had total lack of professionality: the movers were not wearing masks, they used my restroom, they were 7 people packing and moving stuff in & out of my apartment, making me impossible to follow what they were doing.

For some items they used dirty blankets instead of plastic wrap and carton boxes. The result of all this is that 18 items resulted to be damaged at the delivery and 1 item missing, a Yamaha saxophone that the insurance didn't reimbursed because was not explicitly listed in the shipping doc, which I suspect has been done in purpose by a member of the crew in order to stole it.

I don't have proof of that but I know I use to have a saxophone that I don't have anymore and none one will pay for that. Totally disappointed, I strongly suggest you to change moving company. Terrible, terrible.

Do not use!l this company! We had a horrible experience with this moving company. Many pieces of furniture were damaged during our June 2020 moved. I emailed and called Brenda Rayfield the claims analyst and our sales contact every few weeks for over a year. It took until spring of this year to get any compensation, which did not cover the full cost of repairs and the most expensive piece that they damaged, so badly it was unrepairable they refused to cover at all.

They stated it was damaged before the move which was completely untrue and can be clearly seen in great condition in our home sale photos. I have attempted to dispute this with the company for months, but they will not return emails or phone calls. I rarely leave negative reviews, but gave this company over a year to correct the situation and they won't even respond to my emails.

I chose Allied (Federal Companies) for my cross country move because I had used them 3 times before. I had a virtual consultation to determine the size of the move due to COVID. They underestimated the size of my move so it did not fit on their truck putting me in an "overflow" situation. This required Federal Companies to move my items from my storage unit to their storage unit.

I planned my move months in advance so that I would receive my items in the time frame that my husband and I had allotted off of work. Because of the overflow, the remainder of my items were delayed by over a month. We were not able to choose what was on the initial truck and what wasn't so we ended up with a table without chairs and other miscellaneous items missing pieces.

Because of the overflow situation, they told us that we needed to pay them additional money because they underestimated our move, which we did willingly in good faith. However, that was a huge mistake. In their transfer of our items to the overflow storage, several items were missing which they are claiming that they are not responsible for. I will add that we received items from other peoples moves both times (the initial delivery and the "overflow" delivery) and when we told the driver that these were not our items they argued with us that they were and left them with us anyways.

We were also delivered trash from someone else's move during our overflow. We had several broken and missing items (2 glass bowls from our wedding, a wine glass, a missing cuckoo clock (family heirloom), missing pieces of our hammock stand (rendering it useless) and significant damage to a piece of art). I wrote to the manager who told me that I needed to go through the claims process.

I went through the claims process and they are not claiming responsibility for anything except for the piece of art. Because I packed the glass (even though the boxes were labeled fragile and were clearly damaged in the move), they are not responsible. They are also claiming that they are not responsible for missing items. They are saying that they never had them.

They gave me a fraction of what I requested in compensation and told me that I did not provide enough "evidence" - though I did include these photos (and many many more). If I want to appeal, I have to go through another process with a corporate entity. I have written to the manager twice and have not received a response. I paid over $14,000 for my move and received extremely sub-par service. I would NEVER recommend this company for a move. They do not value their customers or their belongings and they do not stand behind their word. Buyer beware.

What a nightmare! This was a first time move. (July-Sept 2018) Salesman insisted we need the best insurance against damage. Promised we could pay half down and half on pickup date. Not true. Does not work that way at all. Our belongings were picked up to go to storage in East Peoria. One person tags our belongings and then leaves. The driver presents me with the lists to sign.

The tagger had listed most of our belongings as worn, scratched, faded. Because this was totally false, I was refusing to sign, but the driver said he could not leave until I signed, so I eventually signed. A couple of times I wrote on the copy--brand new. But wait, the worst is yet to come. I have to give East Peoria a week range of when our belongings can be delivered.

But they can't tell me anything but a load date. Then I find out the load date got changed about three times. They tell me the truck driver will call me. Right, Mr. Ellison only calls the day before he will arrive. So finally our belongings make it to Florida to our brand new home. The movers scratch our new wood floors and cover it up with file cabinets. BEWARE: Only problems caught and reported the day of the move are covered.

So if the movers cover up their dirty work and you do not find it for some time later, sorry, your insurance is worthless. The movers bring in things that do not belong to me. I present them with the incorrect colored tags and make them take it back to the truck. Everything is finally in our house. Mr. Ellison presents me with the same lists to sign again.

I tell him I do not have all my stuff according to my check off list. He tells me that he has delivered all my stuff and that he can't leave until I sign. I tell him I am not signing. I do not have all my stuff. He repeats that he can not and will not leave until I sign. He just stands there staring at me and repeats that he can't leave and I need to sign.

I was intimidated by this guy and I signed, thinking that somehow someone will find my things and return them. WRONG! My advice, NEVER SIGN THOSE PAGES FOR THE DRIVER. Once you sign, everything is considered delivered and no matter what kind of insurance you have, nothing is covered. And damaged belongings are covered at just a fraction of the cost.

We lived in Peoria 45 years and trusted Federal Companies to make our first move a pleasant experience. It was anything but pleasant. Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes. DO NOT SIGN THOSE PAPERS even if you have to call the police to get the driver removed from your property. And your certainly do not want Mr. Ellison. From the salesman to the drivers it is one big racket to get your money. I finally had to call to get my refund from their overbid on my move. WHAT A NIGHTMARE! FIND SOMEONE ELSE!

We were researching companies to make our out of state. I contacted a few companies and after interviewing a few we went with Allied Federal co. I couldn't have been any happier. They came at the scheduled pick up time and the team worked diligently through the entire day to ensure my items were packed in the moving truck securely. The company then stored our items for 90 days until we took possession of our new home.

They worked with me in scheduling and arranging my delivery. They showed up right on time as planned. All of my items were accounted for and we couldn't have picked a better company to help us through this most stressful move. Huge help from Ellen (moving coordinator), Mike (warehouse manager) and Shane (driver). They were FANTASTIC!

I have had moving companies move us approximately 5 times in the past for a company I worked for (company paid for moves). However, this time I had to pay my own way so chose Federal Companies for our move because they had the cheapest price. We moved from the St. Louis area to Reading, PA and the experience was excellent. The packers did an excellent job, guys loading took extra care so furniture was protected, the driver couldn't have been better with communication, and unloaders in PA we absolutely fantastic. We had no breakage and everything is accounted for. Thank you, Federal Companies!

I have moved all over the US and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. The load estimator over estimated our weight by nearly 50%, and they charged our credit card the minute the truck showed up (two days late of course). Then it took three months to get our refund back. But the worst part about Federal is that nobody ever returns calls.

I even went to the main office to talk to upper management and was put off with promises of contact and action by a middling secretary, but ultimately that turned out to be just another empty way to get rid of me. I would tote my furniture on my back before I would ever use Federal again.

VERY DISAPPOINTED, waited for more than a month for my stuff to come in my new apartment with no furniture. I had previously used federal companies to move my household from Tucson to Peoria and I was pretty happy about it. So when it was time to move to California I called federal companies without really looking in to any other company. I had my household move to storage facility by federal as there was a time gap with me being abroad.

I let the federal companies a month advance (should be in mid may) that I need to move in at the end of the June and they told me that first available date is July 10. I was pretty upset and talked with the agent and supervisor multiple times. What I was supposed to do 10 days in a an apartment with no furniture and a family including a toddler. Though situation.

No body really cared and they all told me that it was the busy time of the year and I should have called earlier. it turned out that delay was much worse that initial estimate. I stayed more than week in a hotel and moved to apartment after buying minimal furniture when they told me that delivery will be later than July 10. Finally delivery was made on July 24 almost a month later than I requested.

Me and my family was miserable during this period and needed to make extra expenditure for hotel stay and some furniture, other stuff that we needed to buy as we were waiting for delivery. Initial team that loaded my household/furniture was ok at best probably less than that. They bursted open couple boxes that I warned about being heavy and needing care.

On the contrary the truck driver that made the delivery was a true professional. His name was Lucian Axente working for NorCal. He brought my furniture nicely wrapped, finished the unloading smoothly and effectively! I was impressed, very professional and friendly. Overall my first move with federal was great, second one was a disaster because of the delay.

Apart from delay there is not much to complain about, other wise they/federal are professional and got the job done, no significant damage to my furniture in 2 moves. if it was not for the delay I would be pretty happy. Most important thing is that. they didn't give me the impression that they really tried to make it happen on time. It was like no, it's not possible we are very busy. and I said to myself, ok I'm not calling you guys again ever the next time I need to move.

Someone of the executive level said they would look into what happened. Some week plus, NO PHONE CALL. One star, nope it is a negative. This place is going to hell in a handbag FAST. Terrible company. They hold your items hostage.

I wish I would have read google reviews before I committed to a contract with Federal. I choose them because they were a local company that seemed very responsive and professional with the initial stages of estimates/moving. The physical move itself was fine; however, the service disappeared after they had collected their money. I was overcharged more than $1000 and have left voicemails and emails without response. This has been ongoing for over 1.5 months now. I feel forced to leave a poor review in order to get some follow up.

Smh. Someone came to the house before they gave us a quote, walked around house and yard with my husband so they knew exactly how much we had. Agreed to pickup Thursday morning, deliver Friday afternoon. Three days before the move they decide Friday afternoon is a no-go, can't deliver til Monday. Not ideal but what can we do. Hour and half late for pickup.

Friendly driver, but the two guys with him bickered and cussed at each other the entire day. One with his underware out for the world to see. They showed up with other people's couches already on the truck, so at the end of the day all of our things did not fit on the truck. Driver instructed us to call our "move coordinator" who said she'd try to find another truck and call us right back, she never did. Ended up having to rent a UHaul at the last minute to get the rest out, moving stuff ourselves an hour before closing on our sale!

Never got a timeframe estimate for delivery on Monday so we waited.called "move coordinator", no answer, called again, "they're on their way". Ok. 11:15 am, same crew, same bickering, different underware. Watched one almost burn my mattress with his cigarette that he was smoking on the truck with my stuff in it. My sister eventually scolded them on their filthy language around two small kids who were present. On the positive, all my stuff made it, no damage. So frustrating. Never again.

I'd give zero starts if I could! My move from St. Louis Mo to Branson Mo (3.5 hours difference) has been terrible. Starting a new job and moving is stressful but this move has been a nightmare! I had two large trucks that were to bring my items from St. Louis to Branson. I was told they'd use a semi so it could be done in one move, but if they used two large box trucks that's fine as long as I got all my things.

First truck arrived when promised on a Thursday morning, and the movers said the second truck is coming. THE SECOND TRUCK HAS NEVER SHOWN UP AND IT WILL BE 3 WEEKS TOMORROW! We can't get any information about where our things are or when they will arrive! I have so much missing that I'm living in a half-moved-in home! I can't "settle-in" and make our home a home with half our items missing.

I have some things that are worth nothing to anyone but priceless to me as they are gifts from grandparents that have passed away. My poor husband's fathers remains/ashes are on the missing truck. (I know, should have put them in my car vs. the truck.) I have things that will be damaged if left in a truck in this midwest heat. My new job is great, but every single day I wake up and go to sleep with no bathroom and no living room items, chairs but no table (I've had to buy some things to just get by) and a house that isn't a home yet. I've been in tears over this move.

If they'd even just tell us they don't have it, or it's in another state, or even they don't know where it is at. I can except, but this unresponsiveness is insane and extremely stressful. I just want my things. that's all just bring me the other half of my home! PLEASE!

We contracted with Federal Companies for a local (2 miles) move in January, 2018 (St. Louis region). As we set up in our new home, we discovered damage to personal property and to the walls, stairs, bannister etc. We followed Federal's claim procedure in good faith providing photos, cost estimates and coordinating with the assigned third party with appointment to inspect the damage.

There was no argument that the damage was due to the move. None the less, we were reimbursed by Federal at 8% of the replacement value and less than 32% of the repair estimate provided by the qualified third party. While we did not have an expectation that we would be reimbursed at 100% of replacement value for the damaged items, we did expect that we would be reimbursed at a level that allowed full financial support for repair even if we had to pay for and manage the pick-up and delivery.

We wrote to the local branch manager. He responded "candidly, we did not have to pay that amount to you" and "Since I did not witness carrying procedures or supporting procedures I cannot answer to this statement since I was not there. We train our people the proper processes". We did decline additional insurance coverage since the insurance cost was high for no deductible (38% of our total move estimate!) and the other options included high deductibles.

Most importantly, we believed that they would in fact perform as stated in their terms; "the company agrees to exercise all reasonable and customary care in handling and transporting the articles". When we met with the sales representative and asked what steps are taken to protect household items during packing and transit - we were told that 'this is our business and we wouldn't be in business if we didn't take responsibility and care in handling all items during packing, transit and unpacking'.

In other words, you can trust us. The terms and conditions also state (paraphrased) that 'no responsibility is assumed by the company for 1) fire, rust, the elements 2) items packed by the owner 3) the mechanical non-operation of appliances, electronics etc. None of these (3) exclusions applied. There was no fire. There was no damage to items packed by us/owners.

Our claim did not include any mechanical non-operation. The damage was solely a result of techniques and handling by Federal movers and in our opinion was extensive. Moving is stressful and it is important that the selected moving company can be trusted to uphold and take responsibility for professional performance as stated in their terms and pre-move communications. Unfortunately, we trusted Federal Companies.

This company is terrible. House and furniture damaged. Workers in new city had never moved furniture before. Our bed fell apart when we went to get in it after a very long day. Truck was late. The owner of the St. Louis franchise could care less about the customers. Don't use this company. Corporate Allied was no help either.

We hired Federal Companies to pack and move us. It's been over 3 weeks now and I still can't get a receipt or a bill. They've charged my credit card once for an estimate and once more because they said the packing ended up being more than what they estimated. The driver and the movers were great but I am not happy with Bonnie, the office contact that I was given.

I was told by the initial gentleman that came for the estimate and by the driver that they would come out once free of charge to pick up boxes when we were done unpacking. Bonnie told me that if they really said that they would have included it in the quote. She basically called me a liar. I told her it really sours my entire experience with Federal Companies.

She didn't seem to care. She said she would ask a manager and I still have not heard back. I've called twice now asking for the total charges and for a receipt and she just keeps saying it takes a while. The packers did a pretty good job and the driver and the movers did a good job but I am very unhappy with the level of service from the office.

These guys in St. Louis were GREAT! Carefully packed my mother's home and moved her to Chicago on time! They were very careful, efficient, professional, just GREAT! I would definitely recommend them to anyone! Their names were Ed and Isaiah, I believe. They wasted no time and did a great job. Thank you Federal Gateway in the Lou!

If I could have given this business a negative in stars I would. By far the worst company out there. We started off with there sales rep not even going to the location where our stuff was being stored he gave us a quote off of other companies quotes and he beat there price. They moved our stuff from our storage unit to theres. They were supposed to deliver our items on April 4th 2014.

I was in contact with there office almost daily checking the status of our Items the entire week before our items were to be delivered I was lied to. I was told that our items were in transit and due to be here on time when in fact our items had never even left St Louis. They delivered our items ten days late and with a lot of damage. We filed the claim and it was paid no problems.

That is until we started opening our totes and finding things were missing/damaged so we filed another claim only to be denied because we didn't notice that these items weren't there when our stuff was delivered? Didn't know we were supposed to go through every tote and box to check for stolen items. We had a very expensive floor lamp that was in this shipment when it was delivered the moving guys took it upstairs and into the guest room where it belonged.

Since we haven't had guests yet I took my time setting up the room. When I went to set it up I found that the lamp was damaged and no longer worked. When I filled claim it was denied because I didn't know that it was damaged when it was delivered. There representatives lie and are rude. Please do not use this company I know I never will use them again.
