Services
We have over forty years of experience in proper Customs classification of merchandise and entry writing. We specialize in food and food related products and are specialists in U.S. Food and Drug Administration matters. We also hold a liquor license for Customs Brokerage Clearance. We are experts in dealing with the special requirements of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. We coordinate with USDA before the vessel arrives to determine if they wish to examine, need to fumigate or usually release each related shipment.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture regulates imports of meat, poultry, milk and related products, along with fresh and frozen produce. The USDA also is concerned with pest infestation in import shipments, giving it the authority to hold up and inspect ANY import shipment. The USDA also must be satisfied before any merchandise is delivered from the terminal at the unloading port.
U.S. Customs has authorized Henry E. Kloch & Co to clear shipments in any Customs port of unlading. Not only can we clear shipments in Los Angeles/Long Beach and Chicago, we also can clear shipments in San Francisco, Seattle/Tacoma, Houston, Miami, Savannah, Norfolk, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore and any other port of unlading.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (formerly named the U.S. Customs Service) is now part of the Department of Homeland Security. Since 9/11, Customs has been given broad authority to inspect and hold up suspicious merchandise. While the vast majority of merchandise is legal to import, the amount of time and effort required to clear merchandise through U.S. Customs has been affected.
