Services
Our history begins during the year 1943 when Earl Winkle and his sister Georgia Turpin operated the business under the name Midwest Steel Company. The company operated as a steel wheel fabricator and a producer of castings for truck trailers. This included all types of trailers for the trucking industry, boating industry and railroad industry.
Over 2.8 Million miles driven per year, backed by a dedicated safety team, in-house fleet mechanics, and a large support staff of dispatchers, client service professionals, and billing specialists. Midwest Systems has the capabilities needed to service Mid-America. Our large, growing, diverse fleet of trucks and company owned chassis makes Midwest Systems one of the largest intermodal freight and drayage providers in the St. Louis market.
Midwest Systems is one of the largest independent ISO tank hauliers and depot within the Midwest. We specialize in loaded and empty hazardous and non hazardous ISO tanks from start to finish. Our mission is to efficiently transport our customers' chemicals safely, securely and on-time, every time. We own a large fleet of modern tractors and lightweight chassis to maximise payload.
Using modern handling equipment we are able to offer loaded and empty ISO tank lifting and storage. Midwest Systems acts as a one-stop-shop for comprehensive service to the tank container industry throughout the Midwest. Don't waste your time with this company! Low pay! It will average around $15 and hour-if that. They pay by the load. They make all the drivers scan every piece of paper into their tablet. Which should be the job of the office people. Drivers get paid by the load but want them to do time consuming things like scan the paperwork. If you sit at a railyard for 45-mins you do not get paid for that. Remember, you are getting paid by the load which is a flat rate. Trucks are all junk.

They're constantly in the shop! Dispatch is terrible. They are literally never in a good mood or friendly. Mike is a good dispatcher but you can tell the other dispatchers are miserable. Recruiting will just tell you what you want to hear to get you in there. No sign on bonus. Hands down the worse company I have ever worked for in the 7 years I have been driving. Remember, if a company has a high turn over rate there must be a reason why.

If they're constantly hiring, that company isn't doing something right. Drivers, know your worth. Plenty of other good intermodal companies in the st Louis area that pay hourly! Do your research.

This place is very misleading. They advised my husband that he was ok with starting on 10 months experience. He worked 6 days and was told that he needed more experience. Mind you they told him this after a weeks worth of work doing 12 hr days each day. Then he gets his check and it doesn't reflect the work that hes done. He was told that he would be paid per move.

They even tried to get him to sign a resignation paper in exchange for his check. When he never quit. They are the ones who sent him home. I wouldn't reccomend this company at all. No wonder its a high turnover rate
